In a decisive move to bolster security around mining operations and strategic assets in Kaduna State, the Managing Director of the Kaduna Mining Development Company (KMDC), Engr. Shuaib Kabir Bello, held a crucial meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Tuesday, 3 June 2025, in Abuja.
The high-level meeting, held at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, focused on strengthening collaboration between KMDC and the Nigerian Armed Forces to address the growing security threats facing mining sites and host communities.
Engr. Bello highlighted the need for a more robust, coordinated approach to protect the state’s mineral resources and ensure the safety of workers, investors, and communities. “Mining cannot thrive without security. We are here to forge a partnership that will guarantee a safe and stable environment for sustainable resource development,” he stated.
General Musa, in his remarks, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to supporting government agencies and state-led initiatives in protecting national assets and maintaining peace.
Both parties agreed on the need for regular liaison meetings and the establishment of a dedicated task force to address mining-related security threats.
The strategic engagement marks a significant step toward integrating security into the broader framework of resource governance and economic development in Kaduna State.
