Wife of the KebbI state governor Hajia Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris has affirmed to pursue the fight against drug abuse and addiction among the populace, especially Youths, to a logical conclusion, in view of the adverse effect on mental and physical wellbeing of users.
The KebbI First Lady who is also the Ambassador Against Drug Abuse,
affirmed this at the NDLEA office in Birnin Kebbi during a start of road walk in commemoration of the 2024 United Nations Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.
Hajia Zainab Nasare represented by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi said the present administration would not rest on its oars until the ugly trend has been nipped in the building.
“Governor Nasir Idris is an ardent campaigner against drug abuse and has provided the necessary support and wherewithal to all stake holders including the leading agency in the fight against drug addiction and trafficking, the NDLEA, to reverse the ugly scourge”,
“Comrade Nasir Idris will sustain the tempo until the target objective has been achieved”, said the First Lady.
In his remarks the NDLEA Commander, Kebbi State, Suleiman Usman, said the Agency has intensified proactive approach to the eradication of drug abuse, addiction and trafficking towards sanitising the healthy wellbeing of the society.
“We thank the office of the Kebbi First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, our Ambassador against Drug Abuse, for reinforcing our determination to the total war against substance abuse, intoxicants and trafficking”,
“We are highly grateful to Hajiya Nasare and Her husband, Governor Nasir Idris for providing the NDLEA with material support including logistics for the effective operation of the agency”, the commander said.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, accompanied by the special Adviser to the Governor on Narcotic Aminu, top officers of the NDLEA, the media, Corps members, and students, led the road walk through major streets in Birnin Kebbi, with stop over at shops, markets and motor parks on sensitisation against the ills of drug Abuse.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “The Evidence is clear: Invest In Prevention”
