The Federal Government has said it has not approved any hike in electricity tariffs.

Speculations have been rife that the electricity tariffs will be increased between 30 per cent and 40 per cent on July 1, 2023.

The speculated electricity tariff hike became controversial as it was opposed by many stakeholders.

But NERC told New Telegraph yesterday that the speculation was untrue as it denied a hike increment approval.

The Assistant General Manager, of Public Affairs of NERC, Mr Michael Faloseyi, said NERC had not approved electricity tariff increments.

He said, “I can confirm that the Commission has not approved any tariff increase.”
