*Director reassures parents of top-quality training in the one-year A’Level programme

The Lagos State University School of Basic and Advanced Studies (LASUSBAS), Badagry, on Saturday, 20th September 2025, successfully conducted the entrance examination for candidates seeking admission into its Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The examination, which was held at the LASUSBAS Campus, Topo, Badagry, attracted a large number of candidates from within and outside Lagos, all aspiring to secure a place in the one-year intensive A’Level programme that serves as a direct pathway into the second year of degree programmes in LASU and other partner universities.
Addressing parents and guardians, the Director of LASUSBAS, Prof. Yunus Dauda, commended them for their sacrifices in keeping their children in school despite the economic challenges in the country. He prayed for divine support for families and assured them of the institution’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
Prof. Dauda stressed that LASUSBAS is dedicated not only to intensive learning but also to building character, noting that the university’s reputation as Nigeria’s most sought-after and digitised institution is built on the quality of training it provides. He explained that the programme is jointly run with JUPEB and offers admission into 200-level upon successful completion.
He urged parents to advise their wards to take the programme seriously, warning that strict attendance policies would be enforced and that students who fail to meet lecture requirements may be denied the opportunity to sit for their examinations. He further encouraged parents to continue monitoring their children closely, as discipline at home works hand in hand with the school’s efforts to produce well-rounded graduates.
Other senior officials of LASUSBAS, including the Deputy Director, Dr Ronke Saibu, and the Assistant Director, Prof. Waheed Akingbade, called for stronger cooperation between parents and the school in guiding students. They emphasised the need for discipline, close parental monitoring, and regular communication to keep students focused. They also highlighted the importance of hostel accommodation in ensuring proper supervision, while reminding parents that success in the programme depends on passing core subjects relevant to each student’s chosen field.
Heads of various departments in the school also used the occasion to provide parents with useful guidelines that would help them properly settle their children into the system when eventually admitted, thereby ensuring a smooth transition and early adjustment.
The event concluded on a reassuring note, as the school’s management reaffirmed its commitment to providing a safe, disciplined, and academically rewarding environment where students can thrive and achieve their aspirations.
