The Middle Belt Journalists Forum (MBJF) has announced with deep sorrow the death of its Board of Trustees Chairman, His Excellency Senator Solomon Ewuga, who passed away in Abuja on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
In a condolence statement jointly signed by the National President, Mark Mayah, and National Secretary, Ladi Emmanuel, MBJF described the passing of Senator Ewuga as a monumental loss not only to the Forum but also to Nasarawa State, the Middle Belt region, and the nation at large.
“Senator Ewuga was to the very core a patriot and a statesman. His legacy of service and sacrifice endures. He served Nasarawa State and the nation with unwavering dedication, first as Deputy Governor, later as Senator, and as Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory during the Obasanjo administration. Duty, honour, and a deep commitment to the unity and progress of our nation defined his life,” the statement noted.
The Forum highlighted his reputation as a disciplined public servant who consistently placed national interest above personal gain, adding that his leadership was marked by integrity, humility, and an unshakable belief in Nigeria’s potential. “He stood firm through the most turbulent times, leading with quiet strength and profound integrity,” MBJF said.
Beyond politics and governance, MBJF observed that Senator Ewuga was also a mentor and inspiration to many across generations. His contribution to the growth and stability of the Middle Belt Journalists Forum as Chairman of the Board of Trustees was described as invaluable, ensuring the Forum remained a credible voice in advancing the cause of the region and Nigeria.
In its message of condolence, MBJF extended sympathies to his beloved wife, children, and the entire Ewuga family, as well as the Eggon Nation. The Forum also reached out to the government and people of Nasarawa State, urging them to take solace in the lasting legacy he left behind.
“Senator Ewuga’s death is a painful reminder of the fragility of life, but also a celebration of a life well-lived in service of humanity. We honour his service, reflect on his legacy, and pray for the peaceful repose of his soul,” the statement concluded.
Senator Solomon Ewuga was a prominent political figure whose decades of service left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s democratic journey. His passing closes an important chapter in the history of Nasarawa State and the Middle Belt region.
