The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Farouk Mijinyawa, on Tuesday, received the Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), Major General AC Adetoba, and the Director of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate (IED) of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Mr. Martins Iluyomade, at the Division’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos.
In a statement on Wednesday by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, the courtesy visits were part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and reinforce partnerships that advance both national security and public safety.
The NALCOLM Commandant, Major General Adetoba, at the ocassion explained that his familiarization tour of formations within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) was aimed at consolidating existing cooperation and soliciting continuous support from the Division for NACOLM’s training activities. He stressed the need to sustain collaborations that have contributed to the success of the College’s mandate.
Responding, Major General Mijinyawa welcomed the Commandant and congratulated him on his new appointment, pledging the Division’s sustained support. He reaffirmed that 81 Division would continue to assist the College in its training and operational exercises.
In a related development, the NAFDAC Director of Investigation and happy Enforcement, Mr. Martins Iluyomade, who also chairs the Federal Task Force on Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods, sought military support to bolster the agency’s enforcement operations. He noted that Army collaboration would greatly enhance NAFDAC’s capacity to curb fake drugs and protect public health.
Major General Mijinyawa, in his response, assured Iluyomade of the Division’s readiness to work closely with NAFDAC, emphasizing that inter-agency collaboration remains critical to ensuring food and drug safety as well as national security. The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from both parties to pursue shared objectives.
