Wealthy individuals in the country especially Kwarans have been urged to attach importance to their religion and ensure that they leave a philanthropic legacy that will make people remember them after their demise.

Lukman Isalekoto, an Ilorin-based cleric, stated this during the annual prayer service organised for rear admiral Mohammed Lawal, a former Governor in Kwara State, at his gigantic modern mosque in GRA, Ilorin.

He said, late Lawal was a case study for politicians to learn from and as well emulate his character and service to humanity.

“Late Mohammed Lawal led a meaningful life, he was born through religion, nurtured in Islamic way of life and he practicalised
it throughout his lifetime despite being a politician.

“He has so much love of the state at heart and displayed such with high sense of commitments even before he became the state governor.

“As religious he was, he initiated the idea of having tafsir held at the Government House during Ramadan period.

“Many personalities have died and no one remembers them any longer as they did not impact on people’s lives. Late Lawal was kind, God -fearing, and philanthropic. I urge politicians to emulate him. If you don’t want to die and be forgotten; you must build a strong relationship between you and your creator, fear Him, and utilise whatever God has provided for you to assist the needy and the Lord Will continue to bless your soul.

“Late Governor Mohammed Lawal posses all the qualities and that is why we are still celebrating him after death. It is rare for a politician to have built this kind of modern mosque for the general public to be observing prayers. We pray God continue to be pleased with his return and bless his soul.”

Alfa Isalekoto, however counseled his children who have also excelled in their various future endeavours to continue from where their father stopped by facilitating the project to completion and utilising and sharing all his assets judiciously for continued reward for him.

Some of the children include Hakeem Lawal, who was the SDP guber candidate in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023.

Also, Arionola Lawal, former Kwara State Commissioner for Business Innovation and Technology and currently a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
