Three sisters from Ondo State in the Southwest Nigeria, Mopelola, Olúwaṣeun, and Oluwafunmilayo Makinde — have taken to the skies, proudly following in the footsteps of their father, Captain Wale Makinde, a seasoned helicopter pilot with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

Mopelola and Olúwaṣeun have built successful careers as helicopter pilots, while Oluwafunmilayo charts her course as a fixed-wing aircraft pilot.

Despite the demanding nature of aviation, these exceptional women have not only excelled professionally but are also flourishing in their personal lives — each happily married and thriving.

Their father, Captain Wale Makinde, hailing from Ondo town, has long believed that gender does not determine a child’s ability to succeed.
Through the achievements of his daughters, he has shown the world that with the right support and determination, the sky is truly not the limit.
